What a good tutor looks like
In Florence, people hire tutors for homework help, test prep, reading and math support for local students. Before you let anyone in, look for:
- Experience with your child's grade and subject
- Families you know who saw real progress
- A background check
- A clear plan for each session
Questions to ask before you hire
- What grades and subjects do you teach?
- How do you track progress?
- In person, online, or both?
- What's your rate per session?
Red flags
- No experience with the grade level
- No plan for what sessions will cover
- Wants a long prepaid package before a first session
Seasonal tip for Florence: Start before end-of-semester exams, not the week of.
